Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Gentle decongestive therapy for the treatment of swelling and lymphedema

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a particularly gentle and gentle form of therapy used to treat lymph and lipedema as well as other swelling conditions. Through special, rhythmic grip techniques, superficial water accumulations in the tissue are stimulated for removal. The lymph is transported away via the lymphatic channels and the tissue is decongested. The gentle, circular movements follow the natural course of the lymphatic system and support its function.

Special MLD Grip Techniques

  • Stationary Circles: Gentle, circular movements to stimulate lymph flow
  • Rotary Grips: Rotating hand movements to promote drainage
  • Scoop Grip: Scooping movements for larger body areas
  • Cross Grip: Cross movements for targeted decongestion
